Bystander intervention for prevention of sexual violence in one UK university

Brief summary of project

N=130 first-year students received a two-hour optional bystander intervention programme. Proxy measures of: understanding, knowledge, familiarity, confidence and likelihood to intervene were used. N=84 responses were received. Responses were summarised using descriptive statistics, mean, standard deviation and the chi-square test of association. Findings suggest intervention was positively received by a high percentage of respondents, and conveying simple information is relatively problem free. However, conveying complex information, such as strategies for increasing confidence and likelihood to use intervention, is more problematic.
